Summary of Project:

The Village of Clayton, located in Jefferson County of New York State, is proposing to construct the next phase (Phase 2) to its completed Phase 1 Thousand Island Regional Dock project located in the village’s historic Frink Park. Phase 1 was completed in 2006 which consisted of replacing the deteriorated dock structure along the St. Lawrence River.  The Phase 1 project involved a new seawall, dock structure, and concrete sidewalks adjacent to the replaced dock.  The completed dock can now accept coast guard and emergency vessels, and small-to-medium cruise ships allowing for public access from the waterway.

Phase 2 is a continuation of the upland portion of the dock project inside the existing Frink Park site.  The project consists of numerous improvements to the park, with many enhancing public access to and from the river.  Some of these highlights include:

All of these proposed improvements of public and handicap access to the river, security upgrades, utility services, emergency access, and continuing the village’s goal of a continuous Riverwalk along the shore of downtown Clayton will continue to strengthen and expand tourism and business for North Jefferson County and beyond.  Furthermore, encouragement of the park system for the St. Lawrence River and New York State will continue.
