Completed Architectural and Engineering design, bidding and construction management services for an
8,200 sf maintenance shop and 1,600 sf office building. Aubertine and Currier performed Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Civil/Site design services for this facility. The facility was designed and constructed to replace the facilities main maintenance building which was destroyed by a fire during the winter of 2006/2007. The facility had to be operational prior the start of winter and end of 2007. Responsible for site investigation, safety design, topographic surveys, cold weather design, preparation of contract drawings, technical specifications, design analyses, cost estimating, interior design, hazardous
materials abatement, and coordination of geotechnical reports.
Construction phase services included shop drawing review, design during construction, commissioning construction inspection, processing of contractor payment and applications, and NYS DEC required Stormwater SPDEC GP-02-01 inspections and reporting. The maintenance shop is a pre-engineered steel building. It includes the following: an LP gas fired boiler system; in-floor heat with an exterior snow melt system; pneumatically operated oil dispensing system and tool system; mezzanine; floor drain system with an oil/water separator; vehicle exhaust system with carbon monoxide detection; T5 energy efficient lighting system; energy saving insulation system; standing seam metal roof; metal siding with split face CMU base; and electrical services with emergency generator.
The office includes the following: hydronic air handling units with A/C; T5 energy efficient lighting system with occupancy sensors; energy saving insulation system; communications, data and security system; metal roofing; fiber cement siding with split face CMU base. The office and maintenance portions of the facility include management, sales, administrative and accounting offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, mechanic offices and driver locker rooms. The project was developed utilizing LEED Principals.
The sitework design includes: driveway realignment; parking lot design; demolition of existing buildings and utilities; 24-truck curbed concrete island with block heater connections; correction of existing site drainage issues, with a closed drainage system including structures and piping, and stormwater detention basin meeting New York State Stormwater SPDES General Permit GP-02-01 requirements; coordination of fuel island installation; fencing, site lighting, sidewalks, landscaping; underground LP gas tank; and oil water separator complete with sensors, alarms, and holding tank.
