MacSherry Library Garden,
Alexandria Bay, NY
Year Completed: 2008
Aubertine and Currier provided design and construction documents for a 1500 s.f. outdoor reading/garden area adjacent to the existing library. The Library is located in the village of Alexandria Bay. With very limited areas in the village dedicated to the public, the garden offers enormous learning, relaxation, and recreational potential for residents of Alexandria Bay. Although limited in size, this piece of ground in the heart of Alexandria Bay will become an interactive garden through the efforts of many volunteers and donors. The garden is highly visible from the entry to the parking lot. The garden visually enhances the existing library. Through the creation of this outdoor space, this small yet significant Garden will serve as an educational and relaxing area for the entire community to share. The low maintenance walking paths meander through the garden connecting the garden to the main entrance of the library. A water feature is also provided to mask the sounds of the incoming and outgoing traffic of the parking lot.
