Licensed Civil Engineer

A&C is seeking a Licensed Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department at our office located in Watertown, NY.

The successful candidate will work with our Civil Engineering team working on designs related to land planning, site, roadway, and utility infrastructure design. Being a relatively smaller design firm, this position will also include such duties as construction inspection, AutoCAD drafting, project design, preliminary design markups, design calculations, report preparation, client meetings and board meeting presentations. Within this position you will work managing projects under the general guidance of a principal.

This position will require fieldwork travel.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required

· Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)

· 6 - 12 years of qualifying civil engineering design experience

· Proven technical background in civil engineering

· Ability to develop proposals to help obtain future work

· Successful experience in site design, roadway design for subdivisions and local roads, drainage analysis and design, development of plans, specifications and cost estimates.

· Ability to produce contract documents and project management experience

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to work efficiently with team members and clients.

· Ability to meet project demands and deadlines

Pay Rage:

A&C is committed to offering fair and equitable compensation. The pay range listed is an approximation of our good faith effort to provide an anticipated wage range. The specific salary offered is dependent on the candidate’s relevant experience, education, certifications, and licensure.

Pay Range: $36 - $48 / hour depending on experience

Junior Civil Engineer

Information Technology Technician & Support Specialist

A&C is seeking an Information Technology Technician & Support Specialist to join the firm at our office located in Watertown, NY. The successful candidate will work hand in hand with our architectural, engineering and surveying departments to be a liaison between the business and technical aspects of our organization. Other duties and responsibilities include:‍

Manage and maintain the firm's local area network (LAN), devices, workstations, and manage admin systems.
Oversee cybersecurity policies and coordinate practices to ensure compliance.
Provide desktop support and troubleshoot hardware/software issues for staff.
Administer licenses and updates for software including AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc..
Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and collaboration.
Coordinate with external IT vendors and consultants as needed.
Lead IT-related procurement, cost analysis, and strategic planning and implementation

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
3-5 years experience in information technology administration and management
Experience working with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc. would be strongly considered in potential candidates

Structural Designer

The Engineering Designer plans, designs, and oversees construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of a Licensed Engineer.

Responsibilities

Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using calculator or computer.
Plan or design structures in accordance with environmental, safety, and local regulations.
Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structures or system and material requirements.
Craft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
Analyze proposed site factors and design maps. graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.

Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, and knowledge of other related software.
Knowledge of architectural construction document practices and principles, including detailing.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Land Surveying Field Technician - Instrument Person

Aubertine and Currier Architects, Engineers & Land Surveyors, PLLC is seeking a highly motivated field technician to join our survey department to perform field work for various surveys including bridge, highway, and site topographic surveys, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and machine control services. Previous experience is preferred, but this could be an entry level position for the right candidate.

Aubertine and Currier is a small multidiscipline firm located in Watertown, NY. Aubertine and Currier is a NYS Certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) and is certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the NYSDOT.

The Survey department regularly performs highway, bridge, and transportation design topographic surveys, NYSDOT construction surveying and layout, site engineering and utility engineering design topographic surveys, aviation design topographic surveys, aviation construction surveying and layout, pre and post construction as-built topographic surveys, volume and quantity calculation surveys, GPS site calibrations, machine control setup, geodetic control surveying, and various boundary surveys.

The following skills, experience and education are preferred:

A.A.S. in Surveying Technology or B.S. in Surveying Engineering (Preferred)
Two years’ experience performing field surveys (Preferred)
Experience using GPS/GNSS and robotic total station surveying equipment.
Traversing and differential leveling experience
Experience taking clear and concise field notes with sketches.
Experience with typical construction means and methods is beneficial.
Boundary line reconnaissance and marking property lines.
Willingness to work hard, learn, and grow in our company.
AutoCAD experience is beneficial, but not required.

Candidates must be motivated and able to work well with others as part of a survey field crew. This is a field position where the candidate would be working directly under a survey party chief, with the opportunity to grow and advance with experience.

Pay Range: $23.00 – $30.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Civil/Site Engineering Designer

Summary:

The Civil/Site Designer applies theory and principles of Civil/Site Engineering to design land development and construction documents for roads, storm drainage systems, storm water management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, and traffic control associated with residential, commercial, and institutional projects.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop civil/site plans and construction documents under the direction of a licensed Civil/Site Engineer.
Perform and prepare technical design calculations associated with land development projects.
Complete site visits and prepare associated field reports.
Observe and provide general coordination of various field testing (i.e. water pressure testing, gravity sewer low pressure testing, manhole vacuum testing, etc.
Read and interpret civil engineering drawings and building plans and read maps and land surveys to note land grading, nearby structures, and other factors that could affect the placement of piping and utility systems.
Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
Stay up-to-date and adhere to city, county and state laws regarding design and building code requirements and submit proposed design plan to governments for approval.

Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
EI/EIT certification preferred.
0-2 years of qualifying civil engineering design
Previous experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D preferred.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate a strong desire to continue learning and be energetic and self-motivated.

Architectural Designer

The Architectural Designer prepares detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by the architect.

Responsibilities:

Originate and develop design concepts using computer-aided design drafting (CAD).
Plan or design structures in accordance with environmental, safety, and local regulations.
Confer with department head and design staff to discuss project specifications.
Develop solutions to design problems.
Correct and update design documents.
May supervise a less senior Architectural Designer during a portion of a project.
Responsible for keeping all phases of a project on schedule.

Skills and Experience:

Education in the field of Architecture or related field, and/or architectural work experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, and knowledge of Revit software is a plus.
Knowledge of architectural construction document practices and principles, including detailing.
Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Willingness to learn new skills and processes.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
